OEM or OEE windshield? Getting to know more about differences
Replacing your windshield may not be a pleasant experience, but it is essential for your safety and comfort. To make the best decision, you need to know the different kinds of windshield glass that are available on the market. Before we compare the glass of a windshield, let’s review the materials that are used to make the glass of your vehicle. The side and rear windows are made of tempered glass, which is stronger than regular glass and will break into smaller and less sharp pieces when shattered. The windshield, however, is made of laminated glass, which consists of two layers of glass bonded by PVB, a protective film that prevents shattered glass from flying out in case of an impact.
The different kinds of windshield glass If you want to replace your windshield, you have three main choices: OE/OEM, OEE, and After-Market. OE/OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. It is the glass that was used for the car assembly in the factory. It has the manufacturer’s logo on it. It is the same glass that came with the car when it was first sold by a car dealership. OEE stands for Original Equipment Equivalent. It is the same quality as OE/OEM glass, but it does not have the manufacturer’s logo on it. It is made by a certified manufacturer that works closely with vehicle manufacturers. It is not made by the same manufacturer as OE/OEM glass.
